Onboard is a two-year project co-funded under Erasmus+ programme (Key-action 3 VET-Business Partnerships on Apprenticeships/Work-based learning). The project gathers partners from Portugal, the United Kingdom and Ireland, accounting six entities: INOVA+, Fórum Oceano - the Portuguese Maritime Cluster, ISCIA - Higher Institute for Information and Administration Sciences, CIRA - Intermunicipal Community of Aveiro Region, MSE - Marine South East and Halpin Centre for Research and Innovation at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI).
The project aims to design and validate an apprenticeship's model for Ports and Logistics supporting new vocational education and training (VET) profiles and curricula, fostering an effective VET-business cooperation structure in the maritime sector.
Since its beginning, in October 2017, the consortium developed two functional profiles and joint curricula for the Ports and Logistics' sectors and completed a series of validation workshops, involving the project' s stakeholders. After the validation process, the partnership promoted training for key-professionals, to raise awareness about the Onboard' s products, stimulating a critical reflection on them.
The EACEA - Education, Audio-visual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission recognised the project as "good practice", in December 2018.
