£75 funding available for Collaborative R&D for 'Low Carbon Propulsion Technologies'

The Advanced Propulsion Centre (APC) in partnership with the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Technology Strategy Board are to invest an additional £75m in collaborative R&D projects in the field of low-carbon propulsion technologies.

The APC is the centrepiece of the new joint industry and government strategy for the automotive sector and was launched to help develop, commercialise and enable the manufacture of advanced propulsion technologies in the UK.

The projects are expected to start in October 2014. They will strengthen UK capability and develop and grow the UK's propulsion systems supply chain. Projects must be collaborative and business-led. They expect total eligible project costs to be between £5m and £40m. Consortiums can apply for grant funding at different proportions of total cost depending on the organisation profile and classification of R&D. However, consortiums are encouraged to maximise the value for money of the projects; creating the greatest economic benefit per public pound of grant requested.

This competition opened on 8th May 2014. The deadline for registration is at noon on 25th June 2014 and the deadline for applications is at noon on 2nd July 2014.
