Kent businesses urged to sign up to new online business directory for offshore wind
The UK's first interactive online business directory dedicated to the offshore wind industry recently went live.
The portal, http://www.Kentwindenergy.co.uk is an interactive online business directory dedicated to supporting the growth of the offshore wind industry in the Thames Estuary and southern North Sea.
It has been developed through the Backing Kent Business campaign and its sponsors including Thames Gateway (Kent) Chamber of Commerce and the County Council, in collaboration with London Array and Marine South East.
The offshore wind industry is one of the fastest growing business sectors in the UK which is now a world leader for development. With growth comes the need for a supply chain capable of providing the goods and services to support all aspects of development and operation.
The sponsors recognised that there is a gap in understanding the requirements of this sector at the moment and a need to support growth locally and more sustainably. Alongside this the sponsors wanted to open up the opportunities for local businesses to benefit from this new sector of the economy.
The directory responds by providing a place where it is simple for companies involved throughout the whole offshore wind supply chain to search and source their supply chain requirements and simple for companies who can supply those requirements to register their capability. Users will be able to search by category or company across a wide range of services covering project development, equipment design and manufacture, and construction and operation. There is also a wealth of other information on the site to increase understanding about the development of offshore wind around the UK coast.
