WATTS 2010 conference: Just one week to go - the REA’s premier marine event of the year! 16th June, Seawork exhibition

The REA’s wave and tidal symposium has been running since 2003. This year we are reaching out to a wider audience. The REA is collaborating with Seawork, to introduce the established marine industries to the latest developments in ocean renewables. WATTS 2010 will showcase the achievements and plans of the UK’s vibrant marine renewables industry, at an event which regularly attracts around six thousands buyers, sellers, innovators and legislators from across the globe.

It will be a unique networking opportunity, combining conference, exhibition viewing, a marine energy "Innovation Showcase", site visits, an evening reception and conference dinner.

When & Where:

Tuesday 15th June - Site visits, Conference Reception, Conference Dinner

Site Visits - from 1.30pm

As in previous years, the REA has arranged an enticing programme of visits to local organisations in conjunctions with the WATTS 2010 Conference. The programme will be of particular interest to delegates arriving in Southampton on 15th June, either for the OEG meeting in the morning (REA members only, except by invitation) or for the Conference Reception and Dinner in the evening.

This year, we are offering visits to QinetiQ Haslar, the UK's strategic hydrodynamic test facilities site and Southampton's National Oceanography Museum, with coaches departing from Seawork's main bus stop outside the Canary Islands Fruit Terminal.

Numbers are restricted, so please email Phoebe Roberts proberts@r-e-a.net immediately if you would like to register for a site visit.

WATTS Conference Reception - 6.00pm

The event kicks off with a drinks reception. All WATTS delegates are invited to attend the WATTS Conference Reception at no additional charge, where a selection of wine and soft drinks will be served. The reception offers a relaxed start to the Conference, with an opportunity to catch up with colleagues and meet new contacts from the marine renewables sector.

The winner of the 'Marine Renewable Energy Innovation Award', which has been jointly organised by the REA and Seawork, sponsored by SEEDA & EnviroBusiness, will be announced at the reception. Alan Banks, Chief Executive of EnviroBusiness, will present the award.

It will be held in Southampton's stylish and historic Dockgate 4 restaurant. Please see the attached social flyer. To book, please email Phoebe Roberts proberts@r-e-a.net

WATTS Conference Dinner - 7.30pm

The Conference Dinner will follow directly on from the reception, in the same attractive location. The cost is £50 per ticket, which includes a 3 course meal with wine. Free seating will be around tables of 8 - 10 people. Please see the attached social programme. To book, please call the WATTS hotline 01923 690 643.

Wednesday 16th June - WATTS Conference from 9.30am

The Conference will be held in the Canary Islands Fruit Terminal, Southampton Docks, in conjunction with the Seawork International Exhibition.

Delegates will be updated on the latest development experiences and issues, learn about installation requirements, O&M needs and the opportunity presented by this emergent sector, into which £8 billion of investment might flow by 2020. Marine renewable device developer and utility project developers will hear from their future suppliers how exiting equipment, technology and approaches could be applied or adapted to meet their needs.

Session 1: 10.00 am - Deployed technologies

Session 2: 11.45 am - Infrastructure requirements

Session 3: 2.00 pm - Future developments and supporting technologies

Session 4: 3.30 pm - Panel session - Market opportunities

Please see attached WATTS 2010 programme. To book a place for the conference, please call our WATTS hotline 01923 690 643.
