Small Scale onshore wind installations: Opportunities for marine businesses Thursday 17th June 2010 Seawork

Marine South East under its Wind of the Coast (WICO) project will be hosting a workshop on Thursday 17th June 2010 at the Seawork exhibition looking at the opportunities for marine businesses to install small scale onshore wind energy systems.

The event will take place at 2.00pm at the conference centre at the Seawork exhibition.

The new UK system of Feed-In Tariffs for renewable energy generation, developments in planning regulations and technological developments are making small wind turbines increasingly attractive.

This workshop will highlight relevant policies and planning regulations, set out the economic case for ‘small wind’ and examine some of the technologies on offer. Small scale wind power will be of particular interest to marine businesses located in windy coastal locations such as marinas, ports and shipyards.

Topics for the workshop will include:

* Wind of the Coast (WICO) project overview
* Roll of small scale installations and emerging technologies
* Policies, market drivers and technologies
* Feed in tariffs and related issues
* Opportunities for marine companies
* Questions and discussion

The workshop will take place on Thursday 17th June 2010 1400-1630 at the Seawork Exhibition at the Canary Islands Fruit Terminal, Berth 103-104, Herbert Walker Avenue, Western Dock, ABP Port of Southampton SO15 1HJ
