Venue: UKTI Conference centre, London

A major port and infrastructure expansion is about to be launched along Poland's Baltic coast at Gdansk - the scene of a recent UK inspired container terminal development, now commissioned and in full operation. The new expansion will be a mega investment by the Port of Gdansk Authority, SA.

There is already a considerable flow of goodwill between Poland and UK following from the earlier container terminal. The Port of Gdansk Authority is including London in its launch programme through this presentation, to provide opportunities for participation from UK enterprises.

There is no doubt that the construction of the Central Port will be the largest development investment in the Port of Gdansk over the years to come. The conceptual design that has been recently conceived is novel and bold in character. It provides for creating approx. 450 ha of new port land as a result of land reclamation from the sea and 150 ha of inner water basins. The land thus formed will be designates for the construction of the following facilities: a general cargo terminal with a projected annual throughput capacity of 4 million tonnes, a passenger terminal with a traffic capacity of 2 million passengers per year and a container terminal - 3 million TEUs annually.

The Central Port will be designed to accommodate the biggest vessels that can enter the Baltic Sea. The planned investment project, which is possible owing to its location advantages, will pave the way for Gdansk to become a state-of-the-art and thoroughly universal port that can successful meet its clients' expectation.
