Marine Communities Fund Deadline

money

The deadline for the next round of funding for the Marine Communities Fund is fast approaching, with applications needing to be lodged no later than the 8th May 2008.

The Marine Communities Fund provides support to initiatives and programmes which contribute to the development of best practice, and make a significant contribution to the good management and stewardship of the marine estate.

The fund also supports projects raising awareness and involving coastal communities in the benefits of offshore renewable energy in the UK. Importantly, all projects must be directly relevant to Crown Estate property and comply with The Crown Estate Act 1961.

The fund operates two rounds per year. The first funding round for the 2008/2009 financial year took place in November 2007, with 75% of the budget allocated at that time. The second funding round will allocate the remaining 25% and the deadline for applications is the 8th May 2008. The assessment panel will meet on the 5th June 2008 and successful applicants will be notified shortly after this date.

Crown Estate welcomes well developed and fully costed applications for projects around the UK coast. The application process is simple and straightforward. If you are thinking of applying, your application needs to be lodged by 8th May. For more information about the application process, including the necessary forms, please go to the Marine Communities Fund page on The Crown Estate website, http://www.thecrownestate.co.uk For small projects (applications for less than £10,000), use the small application form, for large applications (over £10,000) use the large application form.

Established in 1999, The Crown Estate's marine communities fund has already distributed nearly £2 million to a wide range of practical projects around the coast.
