Storm of interest generated at the 54th London Boat Show

The Excel Exhibition Centre once again played host to the annual Collins Stewart London Boat Show held in January this year, with 500 exhibitors and over 1000 boats on display. Over 127,000 people visited the show and were treated to a host of entertainment. However, the Show had a more serious side to it with businesses from across the South East looking to network, showcase their wares, launch products and services, as well as generate lucrative sales.

During the Show, the British Marine Federation (BMF) worked hard behind the scenes for the benefit of the industry. The most notable successes included visits from Stephen Timms, Minister for Competitiveness and Gerry Sutcliffe, Sports Minister as well as lunches that were attended by 20 MPs, and 7 Lords and Government Ministers. Over 30 events were arranged behind the scenes to update and engage with the industry and to launch a number of initiatives such as the Superyacht careers website and the Health and Safety Manual.

Rob Stevens, Chief Executive of the British Marine Federation, said: “The Collins Stewart London Boat Show is a vital platform for the British Marine Federation and gives us the chance to engage with Government, promote the UK Leisure Marine industry both domestically and abroad, and deliver other benefits that provide excellent value to our members.

It is also a great showcase for the industry, offering our members and exhibitors the chance to demonstrate their products and services to a large audience. We were pleased with the success of this year’s Show and look forward to our showcases throughout the year including the Marine Experience at the British International Motor Show and the PSP Southampton Boat Show.”
