cad cam

The first training course covering the fundamental and advanced elements of CATIA software commenced on Monday 21st. January, when personnel from leading Yacht Designers and Production Boat Building companies attended the Marine Regional Resource Centre (RRC) Southampton.

The ten day course is divided into two five day sessions with a weeks break between. Following the first part, which is dedicated to the fundamentals, the second part of the course will cover the use of the Advanced Marine Modules enabling the participants to integrate the software and use it effectively and efficiently.

The CATIA courses are being part funded by SEEDA (South East England Development Agency) via the Regional Resource Centre and the Marine CAD Training Pool being led by Marine South East. These are ongoing initiatives to encourage marine companies to use advanced technology and be competitive in the global market. The project will also be developing further training courses to enable companies to up-skill their staff from 2-D to 3-D methods of design and manufacture. (See the RRC website at www.marinerrc.co.uk for a full list of courses on Composites, CAD/CAM, vessel design plus leadership & management courses.)

Following the success of the first CATIA course, several companies have expressed an interest in participating and plans are being made to run a further course in late February/March at the RRC in Southampton.

If you would like to book a place for CATIA training or register your interest for 2-D to 3-D courses please e-mail David Rea on david@marinesoutheast.co.uk or call 023 80111597
