The South East marine industry has cause for celebration following victory in the 'Marine Electronics' category of the DAME Awards (Design Award METS), at the Marine Equipment and Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam on Tuesday. BMF member Secure Yacht Ltd. of Alton, Hants won for its dedicated marine access control relay product, Net 2 Marine Reader.

Additionally, another South East company received a special mention for its product, Warsash-based Sea Sure.

Commenting on the win at the DAME awards, Dean La-Vey, Director of Secure Yacht said:

"We are delighted to receive the DAME Award which is fantastic recognition for our product which has been designed to meet a market need."

The win adds to a significant British presence at METS this year - with 102 companies exhibiting in the UK pavilion and an additional 70 UK companies exhibiting elsewhere at the show.

METS, the world's largest marine equipment supply show, is now in it's 20th year with several UK companies and organisations having had a presence every year since 1988. Henri Lloyd, Barton Marine Equipment and the British Marine Federation are among those who are celebrating their 20th show.

Howard Pridding, Executive Director of the British Marine Federation said:

"It's great to see another British win at this year's DAME awards - demonstrating the strength of innovation and excellence in our industry. To win such recognition at the world's premier marine equipment show is a reminder of the ability of the UK industry to compete with the best world markets have to offer.

This year's show is an important milestone - with many UK companies and organisations celebrating 20 years of exhibiting at METS. It is testament to the diversity and strength of the industry that Britain has the second largest country representation of all here in Amsterdam."
