INdiGO Bio-degradable fishing gear event, 12th February 2020, Lorient, France

INdiGO (INnovative fishing gear for Ocean) is a new EU Interreg co-funded project to develop prototype biodegradable fishing gear.

The project partners and various external speakers will be present on February 12th 2020 at the kick-off event in Lorient to address the following themes:

* Introduction: environmental and societal issues
* The context: plastic pollution, the economic impacts of marine litter
* Alternative solutions: on board solutions, recycling of fishing gear, biodegradable plastics, engaging professionals as actors in transitions
* Industrial challenges in response of new materials

The event will take place on 12th February 2020, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm at the University of South Brittany - Amphi Science 1, 2 Rue le Coat Saint-Haouen, 56321 Lorient

Led by the University of South Brittany, the INdIGO project will reduce the total quantity of plastic present in the France/English Channel area by 3% through the development of biodegradable fishing gear, as well as improving habitat quality and maintaining biodiversity.
