Survey to identify training needs and requirements in the ports and logistics sector
How can we characterize the ports and logistics sector in terms of qualification needs and trends? What are the training offers available for the ports and logistic sectors and to what extent do they match with companies’ needs? How can successful cooperation and communication be promoted between training organisations and SMEs of the ports and logistics sector?
These questions are the basis of Onboard - Development of technical profiles and training curriculum for the ports and logistics' sector, a European project aiming at strengthening the partnership, cooperation and communication between apprenticeships' providers and SMEs of the sector.
To answer to these questions, the consortium partners of the Onboard project are performing a desk research and skills needs assessment for apprenticeship training in the ports and logistics field. The project is seeking the views of people working in or with an interest in the sector. These include training managers, in-company trainers/tutors, managers, human resources managers, training managers, in-company trainers & tutors, experts and workers of SMEs of ports and logistics - maritime sector. The information collected from the desk research will be analysed and enable the partners to design 2-3 qualification profiles and training curricula. It will also be used to subsequently develop an Apprenticeships Model for the ports and logistics sector.
We invite you to contribute to this study by answering a survey which will remain open until the 15th February 2018 and that requires no more than 20 minutes of your time.

The survey is organised in four sections: the first two sections collect statistical information about you and your organisation. The last two sections are focused on the collection of data related to the training policy, needs and trends of your organisation in short, mid and long-term.

The Onboard Project, led by INOVA+ is keen to strengthen and setting-up fruitful and sustainable partnerships between companies and vocational education & training centres and businesses in the sector, at local and regional levels. This 2 year project, involving partners from Portugal, United Kingdom and Ireland will focus on the design and development of technical profiles and joint training curricula for the ports and logistics sector of the three countries.
