Clean Inland Shipping Mid-Term Conference 13th March 2019, Brussels

The CLINSH project team and the Flemish Government are hosting the Clean Inland Shipping (CLINSH) mid-term conference in Brussels on 13th March 2019.

CLINSH, is a public and private partnership from four European countries who are working together to improve air quality in urban areas along waterways.

Through real-time measurements the project are demonstrating the effectiveness of emission reducing techniques and alternative fuels on a fleet of more than thirty participating ships.

CLINSH is also demonstrating the benefits of onshore power supply. At the mid-term conference the project would like to share the first results and explore opportunities to 'green' the fleet.

The inland shipping sector is of great importance for the European economy. It can play an important role in meeting the growing demand for transportation. Moving goods and people by ship helps to reduce road congestion. A typical inland waterways vessel can carry the equivalent load of up to sixty 44 tonne trucks. Compared to road transportation, inland shipping is already more environmentally sustainable.

If we want to keep that way, we have to take action now. That is the aim of CLINSH, but the project needs your help.

The mid-term conference is hosted by Flanders, one of the CLINSH partners. The venue is the Herman Teirlinck building in Brussels on 13th March 2019.
