Offshore Renewable Energy Optimisation Workshop, 7th July 2016, Portsmouth

The South Coast Satellite Applications Centre of Excellence will be hosting this Offshore Renewable Energy Optimisation Workshop on Thursday 7th July 2016 at Portsmouth University.

The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is seeking innovative technology solutions from other sectors to provide new satellite based applications to support the offshore marine energy industry.

Offshore marine renewables needs to optimise to reduce costs and become competitive with other energy systems. The development of satellite applications provides a real opportunity to drive cost reduction in this vital sector.

This workshop will offer an exciting opportunity for companies large and small to play a crucial part in this rapidly expanding sector, offering both national and global opportunities.

The UK has a strong heritage in the offshore marine energy sector. The UK generates more electricity from offshore
wind than any other country in the world.

Following its investment in wave and tidal energy development to date, the UK is well placed to integrate tidal stream energy into the energy mix, and remains at the forefront of wave energy technology innovation. Tentative markets are emerging in France, Canada and Asia-Pacific, but the UK continues to set the global pace.

Who is this workshop for?

We are looking for companies who can bring ideas, concepts and prototypes to the event, which may lead to future collaboration with ORE Catapult and the Satellite Applications Catapult.

We are seeking technology that can support activities such as:

* Site characterisation
* Resource measurement
* Environmental data collection
* Installation
* Asset surveillance
* Vessel support
* Maintenance and disposal
