Apprenticeship scheme doubled by local marine builder

Local marine builder, Griffon Hoverwork have announced they are to double the size of their Apprenticeship Scheme to create 20 new jobs for young people.

The local designer, manufacturer and operator of hovercraft claims it will become one of the largest employers of young apprentices in the Southampton area. The company has been able to announce this increase due an expansion in the world hovercraft market and a strong order book.

Griffon has recognised the need to develop specialist talent in a number of key areas and apprenticeships are being offered for a variety of skills including marine engineering, electrical engineering, outfitting, composites, aluminium welding and fabrication, design, stores management and customer service.

Griffon Hoverwork is working in partnership with Southampton City College to offer successful applicants practical on the job experience as well as college based work.
