Visit to Berthon by Ashley Infant School during National Apprenticeship Week

As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2013, Lymington based Berthon Boat Company hosted ‘Holly Class’ from Ashley Infant School on the 14th March who are working on a project on transport.

Shipwright apprentice Joe Bullen and Marine Engineering apprentice Jade Harrison hosted the children giving them a tour of the Boatyard and Marina.

The children had an exciting visit getting up close to a variety of vessels including the new build Shannon Class Lifeboats and an MOD Police boat.

Keith Longman, Yard Manager at Berthon said ‘We were delighted to be able to host this visit and it was a very enjoyable experience for both the children who have special needs and our apprentices. To see the smiles on their faces as they walked around was fantastic.’ Berthon has excellent links with its local schools and colleges and employs many young local people including 26 apprentices.
