Superyacht UK Design Competition 2012
Superyacht UK's Design Competition provides an opportunity for young British Designers to be recognised by the Industry and compete on an international stage.
The competition aims to select a student that is currently studying a design orientated degree, to represent British design talent at the Seatec Abitare La Barca Concept Award.
The competition is only open by invitation; chosen universities are invited to select candidates from their students, whose current portfolios reflect the ethos of the Superyacht UK objectice to promote British excellence.
Selected candidates will be judged on their current portfolios.
The competition is an opportunity for students to showcase their portfolio to industry representatives and compete on an international stage.
A winner will be selected by a panel of judges and will be invited to attend the Tullett Prebon London International Boatshow on the 12th January 2012, to be awarded the prize, and to attend lunch with industry representatives.
The winners will be awarded the opportunity to compete in the Abitare La Barca Concept Award at Seatec in Italy, an award usually only open to select Italian universities.
The winner's travel, accommodation and subsistence will be paid for.
The theme for the competition is:
A completely dismountable boat, 3 to 6 metres L.O.A, with entirely eco-friendly propulsion, mono or multi hull, carriable and with a clear approach to a design which involves the use of natural materials, either recycled or recyclable, for every single component. Their use may range from pleasure, fishing to complementary facilities at private beach facilities. Particular attention should be paid to the safety and reliability that a small versatile boat should always have.
