MSE leads new project investigating Screw Anchoring for Marine Energy Devices (SAMED)...
All marine and offshore renewable energy devices need fixing to the seabed, whether by a rigid foundation structure or a flexible mooring system. The high costs of anchoring and associated installation procedures are currently one of the major barriers to marine energy device deployment, and to 'deep' water offshore wind deployment.

Marine South East has been working with E.ON to assist in the development of the supply chain for this wind farm. One part of this work has been the creation of a procurement portal on which potential suppliers can register their capability.

Glycerol fuel project (GLEAMS) launch interest group and set date for first workshop...
GLEAMS (Glycerine Fuel for Engines and Marine Sustainability) is a Technology Strategy Board project under the Marine Vessel Efficiency competition which is looking at developing vessels to burn marine glycerol in a bid to overcome rising fuel costs and tightening emissions standards.

The BEEMS (Building European Environmental and Maritime Skills) project is a cross-border partnership project funded by the EU Interreg IVA France (Channel) – England Programme. The aims of the project are to stimulate growth and development of the marine renewable energy industry through environmental and maritime skills and training, and increase economic viability of the sector.

The South Inshore and South Offshore areas are the third and fourth areas in England to be selected for marine planning. The South Inshore area includes a coastline that stretches from near Folkestone to the River Dart. These two area plans will become part of a comprehensive marine planning system around England, enabling the effective integration of economic, social and environmental factors and promoting the sustainable development of our seas.
