Have your say; Solent Maritime Integration Project - seeking the views of marine businesses in the Solent region...

The Solent Maritime Integration Project is a piece of research being undertaken to produce a database and supply chain map that will pinpoint the activities and relationships of the Solent's maritime economy.

To make the project as successful as possible marine businesses are being asked to take part in a short online survey. The more organsations that take part in the survey to become part of the supply chain map, the more powerful the tool will become.

Wind of Coast (WICO) update...

Marine South East continues to work with the Italian and Spanish partners towards a set of guidelines to assist public authorities, businesses and members of the public understand the policy, planning, economics and technology involved with small wind turbines.

Advancing Innovation and Knowledge transfer in the marine sector...

Marine South East is involved in a European project called PROTTEC which is bringing together partners from France, the South West of England and the South East of England to explore the transfer of knowledge and innovation in the marine sector.

The two year project has produced a leaflet explaining the objectives, project acitivites and detailing the partners which is available to download from

Wind energy opportunities and the marine sector: 17th June 2010 Seawork...

Marine South East will be partnering with Envirobusiness to host two workshops at this year's Seawork Exhibition on Thursday 17th June 2010.

The morning workshop will look at the opportunities for marine companies in the Offshore Wind Energy Sector with the afternoon workshop concentrating on the opportunities for marine businesses presented by Onshore small scale wind installations.

Skills for Technology Newsletter and Technical Update...

The Skills for Technology latest newsletter and technical update are both available to download from the Marine South East website http://www.marinesoutheast.co.uk/docs/journals/

The Newsletter highlights a number of marine training opportunities in composites and value engineering as well as a case study looking at Ben Rogerson and his campaign for the Mini Transat 2011.

Short Sea Container Shipping Services – The Green Economic Alternative to Ro-Ro...

The Port of Poole and MSE are the UK partners in the European PROPOSSE project http://www.proposse.eu/proposse/ whose aim is to promote short sea shipping as a reliable and economic alternative to current means of goods transportation.

Having completed an analysis of existing and potential freight flows through Poole, MSE and the Port of Poole are now undertaking a market survey to investigate the views of potential customers (freight forwarders and SMEs) to the developments of a short sea container shipping service to European ports.

Marine Energy Resources, Exploitation and Use - project update...

MEREX (Marine Energy Resources, Exploitation & Use) is part of SEEDA’s Knowledge Network Programme that creates new collaborations between businesses and knowledge base organisations. The KNP currently supports 7 networks, each focused on specific priority technologies.

MEREX is bringing together universities, research establishments, regulatory bodies and businesses to exploit research opportunities and catalyse collaboration. The primary aim of the network is to turn knowledge into commercially successful products and services.
