Insurance Premium Finance - cash saver for pressed Owners...

A new venture aimed at easing premium flow for the often hard-pressed international marine market and its clients has been launched. Major insurers are reported to have confirmed that they will support what is said to be the first premium finance scheme in the sector. It is managed by a new independent company, Insurance Premium Finance Ltd (IPFL).

Knowledge Networks: ‘EDSnet’ ends – ‘MEREX’ soon to start...

In December one of the final Environmental Decision Support Network (EDSnet) workshops took place in Falmouth, focusing on the European SANY (Sensors Anywhere http://sany-ip.eu/ ) project. The SANY integrated project is concerned with the interoperability of in-situ sensors and sensor networks. SANY architecture provides a quick and cost-efficient way to use data and services from currently incompatible sensors and other data sources.

Marenet event Nov 09

November MareNet Event explores superyacht design...

The MareNet event was held at the QinetiQ Portal Facility on 26th November and proved a vibrant environment to discuss the future of Superyacht design, recognising the important role that the South East has to play in this growing superyacht sector. Despite the tough economic environment, the annual British Maritime Federation survey indicated that Superyacht UK members bucked the trend of decline to post a substantial year on year growth rate of 15.3% in turnover, reaching a total of £410 million.

A free adviceline has been launched to help small business managers with the expert advice and support they need to help team members experiencing ill health. Many managers will have experienced how the health of an individual impacts on their performance. What’s more, with the increase of work-related mental health issues such as stress, anxiety and depression, it is now more important than ever to:
- find the advice and support you need today to help an employee experiencing ill health;
- develop a plan to effectively and sympathetically deal with employee sickness absence;
- establish how to deal with similar problems in the future, should they occur;
- think differently about your business and the investment you could make in a healthy workplace.
