Halifax, Nova Scotia became a sister city with Portsmouth in 2021 to promote potential future trade and investment. It is home to the Royal Canadian Navy and has had a link with Portsmouth’s Naval base since 1759. The two maritime clusters – Nova Scotia and the Solent, also share a range of synergies too, with many of our maritime businesses and resaerch organisations collaborating on projects.

Maritime UK Solent is delighted to invite the network to the first online event as part of this partnership: International Maritime Business Showcase: Marine Security - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and Portsmouth & South Coast, UK on 4th March 2024 3pm - 5pm in the UK (GMT), 11am - 1pm (AST) in Canada.

With an introduction and overview from Mike Savage, Mayor of Halifax; Councillor Steve Pitt, Leader of Portsmouth City Council; Jane Lamer, Head of Economic Development and Skills at Portsmouth City Council and Stuart Baker, MD of Maritime UK Solent, the event will bring together organisations from these major maritime clusters in the UK and Canada to promote and strengthen investment, supply chain and business-to-business development, and encourage collaboration.

We will be hearing from organisations working in marine security - four based in and around Portsmouth: and four based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
